Below are the War Streamers And Other Unit Honors Awarded to 2/77FA by Department of the Army. Although it was not always Field Artillery.

THE PRESIDENTIAL UNIT CITATION STREAMER (VIETNAM)

A blue streamer with the name of the action embroidered in white. The streamer represents a degree of heroism required that would warrant award of the Distinguished Service Cross to an individual. The Battle of Soui-Tre was fought by 2/77FA, and 3/22Inf. And relief columns were A/2/12Inf. & 2/22Inf.(M). At the time, 2/77FA, & 3/22 & 2/22Inf.(M) were elements of 3Bde., 4ID., OPCON to the 25ID in III Corps TAO in what was Known to us at the time as both "The Angel's Wing" and "The Elephant's Ear" an area that juts into cambodia from Vietnam on the map, and was thus effectively surrounded on 3 sides by the Cambodian Sanctuary used by VC/NVA forces to scamper back to safety after ambushes, etc.

There were 13 campaigns for World War I, during the period 1917-1918. 77th FA participated in 5 of them, including AISNE-MARNE 1918, and MEUSE-ARGONNE 1918 The streamer is the World War I Victory Medal ribbon which had a red center with a rainbow on each side of the center stripe and a purple edge. The double rainbow symbolizes the dawn of a new era and the calm which follows the storm. The following inscriptions in white are authorized in General: The 2/77FA is authorized 5 of them, but I could only find 2 campaigns named. They have the Asterisks by them. No Need to re-create the streamer, as it is the same, only the embroidered name of the campaign is different.

European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign (EAME). There were 16 campaigns in the EAME Theater. 77th FA fought in the 7 you see the stars on below. Until 1944, when broken up, it fought as part of the 18th FA Bde, VII Corps. The EAME streamer is green with a brown stripe on each edge. The center has a narrow blue, white and red stripe. On the upper portion is a narrow white and red stripe with a narrow white, black and white stripe on the lower portion. The brown color is representative of the sands of Africa and the green color for the green fields of Europe. The central blue, white, and red stripes taken from the American Defense Medal ribbon refers to the continuance of American Defense after Pearl Harbor. Green, white, and red are the Italian colors, and the white and black colors refer to Germany. The following inscriptions in yellow are authorized:

Vietnam Service. There were 17 campaigns for Vietnam service during the period 1962 - 1973. The 2nd Bn., 77th FA fought in 11 of them. Don't know which ones for sure yet, though I do know some of them, but will wait till I come across some orders. They will probably turn up when they are Re-Activated this winter The Vietnam Service streamer is yellow with three red stripes through the center. It has a green stripe on each side. The yellow with red stripes was suggested by the flag of the Republic of Vietnam. The green alludes to the jungle. The following inscriptions in white are authorized:

Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross. The streamer has a yellow center stripe with a red stripe on each edge. Eight pairs of thin red lines are on the yellow stripe. The inscription is white. A bronze palm is centered between the hoist end of the streamer and the first letter of the inscription. As part of the 3rd Bde, we received at least 3 of them I know of. But, I could only find this one streamer which actually looks like it has a green OLIVE branch on it instead of the bronze palm branch mentioned in the Army's description. Which was the same place I found this picture. Hmmmmm.
